Competitive Multiple Media - Fall 2017 Ages 10-17

Competitive Multiple Media, for ages 10 -17
Students will learn to illustrate in a variety of mediums, including pen/ink, charcoal, conte crayon, etc. Creative projects will be interspersed with technique study to develop many areas of expression. All students will be competing in 2 additional 2-hour sessions to demonstrate the skills they’ve learned in the program. Ages 10 – 17 will be able to compete in the Regional Competition on Saturday, November 11th at 10am at the South Carroll Senior and Community Center. All materials are included.

Mixed Media Fun - Fall 2017

Mixed Media Fun, for ages 6 – 10.
This mixed media class is a wonderful class that works with all mediums such as paint, drawing, clay, pastels, recycled products and more. The children will learn about famous artists, art appreciation and techniques. This fall we will have fun creating a faux stained glass, play around with collage, painting and printing as well as experiment with lines and patterns. We will finish the session with a lovely autumn scene using pointillism. Instructor: Kim Fondiller, Tuesdays, 5 – 6:15pm @ Century High School. $80 for 6 classes.

Stained Class II - Fall 2017

Stained Class II, for adults, and children 12 and up.
This program offers the moderate to advanced student to expand their creativity and skills. This class is for someone who has experience with stained glass and the materials used. As with past classes, supplies are included. A variety of projects from panels, window hangings and 3-D pieces will be completed within the six week schedule. Instructor: Kim Fondiller, Thursdays, 6:30pm – 8pm @ Century High School. $125 for 6 classes.

The Art of Stained Glass - Fall 2017

The Art of Stained Glass, for adults, and children 12 and up. Great parent/child class! This class will teach you all the elements that go into making your own stained glass work of art. You will learn how to cut, grind, foil and solder your glass. One to two seasonal pieces will be completed for you to display in a window, on a wall or easel. No tools are required. Just a lot of enthusiasm and excitement to try something new. Register early; space is limited. Instructor: Kim Fondiller, Thursdays, 5 – 6:30pm @ Century High School. $125 for 6 classes.

Guided Artistic Directions in the Studio - Fall 2017

Guided Artistic Directions in the Studio, for adults
Students will develop their personal artistic direction and create a series of works using drawing, painting, or mixed media techniques. Instructor John Kachik will customize, design, and provide demonstrations and direction to meet class needs and interests. Individual and group critiques and discussions will help students develop their work to more professional. Open to all levels. Bring the materials that support your medium of choice. Instructor: John Kachik, Wednesdays, 6 – 8:30pm @ Century High School. $140 for 6 classes.

Workshop: Painting Step by Step, for ages 11-adult Fall 2017

Starts November 29th
Workshop: Painting Step by Step, for ages 11 – adult
3 classes; 3 paintings. Students will create a series of 12” x 16” paintings with acrylic paint, and bring one home from each class ready for hanging. Some painting techniques will be taught, but no experience is needed. Great fun!

Play on Theatre Fall 2017

Play on Theatre, for ages 10 and up
This class will provide the foundations for a fun and exciting theatre presentation. Students will learn proper theatre etiquette and technique while studying and rehearsing for a small production at the end of the session. They will be taught how to work together as an ensemble, develop and sustain a character, and assist in designing and selecting costumes. This class will stretch students and delight even those who are a bit shy. Roles will be assigned after the first class. Instructor: Lora Strosnider, Wednesdays, 6 – 7:30pm @ South Carroll Senior and Community Center. $85 for 8 classes and a Saturday show. (Show day is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 4th, 11am – 1:30pm rehearsals, lunch and 2pm show.)

Freedom Area Basketball - 2017/18

The mission of the Freedom Area Basketball League (FABL) is to provide education, instruction, and recreation in the game of basketball for the young people of the Freedom Area community. FABL has both an Intramural program, as well as select Travel Teams that offer a more competitive element to the level of play. We have divisions available for boys and girls in grades K through 12. In addition to skills development, sportsmanship and the enjoyment of participation will be emphasized at all levels.

JDCRO Orchestra Practice 2016-17

JoeyDCares Rock Orchestra, a non-profit community music group of students and adult volunteers, performs Rock, Pop, Motown, Jazz & Classical to support charitable events throughout the year. Students improve their music skills while earning service hours serving their community through music, building leadership skills, and having fun jamming with other musicians.

Who: Student musicians in grades 6-12. Also, members of the community of any age who want to join by helping or playing an instrument are welcome!

PIE3 Robotics Teams 2017/18 - FRC

Welcome to the PIE3 Robotics Team Registration Site.

FIRST Robotics Competition is open to students who are 14-18 years old by January, and junior members who are 13 in January. PIE3 currently sponsors the Robo-Lions, FRC Team 2199. The team meets in the Sykesville area at least weekly. The team builds a competitive robot each winter, running summer sessions in robotics and engineering in the summer, training, competing and sharing their STEM experiences throughout the community all year.
Team members learn about and participate in the team in many ways, and may join through the year. Volunteer mentors are also welcome in any of the following areas:
-Electronics and electrical engineering
-Mechanical systems and system integration
-Public relations, including marketing, graphic design and social media
-Business planning and fundraising
-Computer Aided Design (CAD)
-Programming in Java
-Shop safety, quality engineering and product reliability

There is an initiation fee of $50 for students. This includes an invitation to visit with the current team or attend a workshop to learn about the program. Full membership will require additional fundraising and/or contributions to cover team registrations, materials, and travel.

Once you have completed this registration you must also complete the county background proceedure. If you have already done so this year and already have your badge then you do not have to do again. To do your background check you must follow the steps below:

4th, 5th and 6th grade instrumentalists

4th-6th Grade instrumentalists advance their skills by playing rock, pop and jazz music! As an extension of the awesome kids program’s beginning band and orchestra, this class features a combined band and orchestra playing a variety of songs ending with a live recital performance.

The Awesome Kids Band includes all 4th, 5th and 6th grade instrumentalists of any instrument (strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion). While performing fun and popular tunes, students learn new fingerings, notes and theory about music and their instrument. Play songs from the Beatles, Van Halen, Michael Jackson and more, on your band or orchestra instrument!


Freedom Firebirds 2017-18

Welcome to the Freedom Firebirds registration page.

Congratulations on making a Firebird team this season.

As you register you will be required to enter a participation code. You can contact your team manager for this code if you have not already received it.

You will also be asked to select a team -- select the team your child will be playing for this season.

If you are a volunteer you need to also register as a volunteer.

You must have tried out for a Freedom Firebird Team and have been selected to play on that team in order to register.

ERR Arrows Fall Cross Country - 2017

ERR Arrows - Youth Cross Country Fall 2017
Ages 6-15
2017 Season: Tuesday, August 22 -- Thursday, October 26

Practice times: Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:15 – 6:30 PM
Location of practices: Parking lot behind Linton Springs Elementary School in Eldersburg

Athletes will be separated by age and/or ability at practices. Meets, which are held in Carroll and surrounding counties, will start on Sunday, September 10 and continue on Sundays through the end of October. Meets are not required, but each athlete is encouraged to participate in at least one during the season. The Arrows cross-country program is for beginners and experienced runners. However, it is highly recommended that your young athlete be able to run the following distances without stopping before they join the program (1 lap around a high school track for 6 and under, 2 laps for 7/8, 4 laps for 9 through 12, and 6 laps for 13/14 age group). COST

The cost is $45 per athlete for the 1st family member, $40 for 2nd and additional family members. This registration amount does not include fees for participating in the meets (typically $5 per athlete per meet). The Arrows uniform (the same jersey and shorts used for our Track and Field program) is required to participate in meets and must be purchased separately through the following website: www.proforma.com/errarrows . If your athlete is participating in the first meet on September 10, you must purchase the uniform by 8/18 to have it on time.

Freedom Area Ringers 2017/18 Community Handbell

The Freedom Area Ringers, English Handbell choirs consist of two groups for students grade 4 through adults. Rehearsals are held weekly at Faith Lutheran Church, 1700 St. Andrews Way (next to CCPL).
If you've never tried ringing handbells, come and give it a try. It is great, team building, addictive, musical fun!

Class Schedule:
Thursday evenings starting September 7, 2017 ending on May 24, 2018 with concerts in December and May.
Beginners: Level 1 & 2 No bell or music experience necessary. Grade 4 - Adult, Thurs. 6-7 PM.
Learn the basic mechanics of ringing, reading music notation, and teamwork moving toward performance of several pieces of music.

Intermediate: Level 2+ & 3 Two years of bell experience or strong music background. Grade 4-Adult, Thurs. 7:15 - 8:15 PM
Build on basic knowledge of bell music / note reading to practice and perform music with expression and musicality.

Step 2) Add your children (when adding grade use current grade in school) and/or spouse to the account

Step 3) Register your participants - scroll to find the program you want to register for
